Wigan has a working economy that is mostly invisible from the M6. Food and drink manufacturers around Martland Park and Heinz at Kitt Green, distribution and third party logistics businesses along the M6 and M58 corridor, healthcare and public sector teams around the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, plus a long list of family run engineering and trades firms across Leigh, Ashton, Hindley and Standish. Most of them are sitting on years of operational data inside Sage, an ERP, a warehouse management system or a stack of Excel workbooks, and most of it never makes its way into a single weekly view.
We start with one report. Usually that is the Friday spreadsheet somebody on the team has been quietly rebuilding by hand for years. We take it apart, connect Power BI to the source system directly and rebuild it so it refreshes on its own. Once that one is stable we can take on the rest of your reporting and data visualisation work or move into proper interactive dashboards for the leadership team. We do not push you into a long retainer up front.
A lot of Wigan work for us is hybrid. We will come over for a kick off, walk the floor or sit with the finance team for the morning, then carry on remotely so we are not adding travel time to the bill. If your team would rather build the skills internally we run small group Power BI training sessions on your own data sources rather than a stock dataset, which tends to land better with people who already know what their numbers should look like.
Manufacturing and logistics clients in particular ask us about pulling shop floor or warehouse data into the same view as finance and sales. Power BI handles that well once the model is built properly. We will sit down with whoever runs the ERP or WMS, work out where the cleanest extract lives and join it together so operations and finance are arguing from the same numbers rather than two different spreadsheets.
We also tidy up Power BI workspaces that have grown a bit wild. Quite a few businesses inherited reports from a previous contractor, a member of staff who has since moved on, or a free trial that turned into the official source of truth.
